Arizona
Adventure
Baton Rouge to Quartzsite, Lake Havasu, Las
Vegas
January 2000
The state park between Tucson and Phoenix, Picacho Peak, is quite spectacular. Traveled on to Quartzsite, AZ, home of literally hundreds of thousands of RVers especially snowbirds, camped and boondocking in the desert on BLM land, which is dry and sparse but beautiful in its own way. Next stop was Lake Havasu, where we camped at a county park right on the river, lots of snowbirds there also. Went through Laughlin, NV, and stopped at Lake Mead Recreational area, quite beautiful, and on to Las Vegas where we overnighted at the Circus Circus RV Park right on the strip. Quite a place to be sure. The drive home to Louisiana was partly on I-40, thru Kingman, then down through AZ stopping at state parks and private campgrounds along the way. Weather was pretty until Texas when a cold front brought snow almost as far as I-10.
